Part I The beginning of this class is an introduction to the simple movements of belly dance. Classes will begin with a warm-up which will include yoga-based stretches and conditioning exercises. There will be an emphasis on posture, framing, stage presence, isolation, building muscle memory, mastering staccato and cyclical movements, layering, and combining traditional belly dance moves in new & innovative ways. Class will focus on drilling individual isolations and technique and combining them into mini choreographies. These short sassy dances are built for improvisational dance, but can be used and recreated for your own choreography. Technique based on traditional and tribal belly dance. Following the dance portion, there will be a review and a short cool-down section. Part II As we progress from the basics, we move on to Improvisational Tribal Style Bellydance (also known as American Tribal or ATS). This is a grounded and earthy dance style done within a synchronized group dynamic. Go beyond performing a piece of choreography and learn to think on your feet with other dancers at your side. Class will include simple line-ups, combinations, cues, and transitions. Julyana starts with the concept of lead and follow, and brings the class toward dancing as a group or tribe, where dancers rely on each other for cues and transitions. The styles taught will be based on those of Black Sheep Belly Dance, Fat Chance Belly Dance, and Gypsy Caravan. Breathing, stretching, and strengthening are an important part of each class. Julyana goes over each movement throroughly so that every student will understand. ITS is a great way for beginners to get to know belly dance, or for experienced dancers to expand their repertoire. Plus, the costuming is creative and colorful!!! All ages, shapes and sizes welcome. Come join the fun and experience the sisterhood of the tribe! Yoga mats provided. Wear comfy pants and a tight fitting top (no baggy T-shirts) so you can see your isolations. Bring water to flush out those toxins you just stirred up!!! Creative attire is encouraged
New Restaurant In Leominster. I stopped by for lunch on Thursday Jan 14th. The building has been completely renovated and looks very nice inside. The food was very good and the onion rings were excellent. The menu is mainly italian and american food which includes appetizers, salads, soups, sandwiches, grinders, seafood and dessert. We could try the dinner menu and maybe stay later for dessert and drinks after. After trying lunch and talking with the Executive Chef this would be a great place for our group to try.
Scott Brown's victory dramatically changed the landscape of the public square. We'll consider what the next steps are for conservatives in Massachusetts.
Bombay Tandoor Grill 200 Lunenburg St Fitchburg, MA 978-348-1699 Indian food is a diverse and extraordinary one, reflecting a complex layering of cultures through history and based on religious beliefs, geography, climate and availability of ingredients. India's range of cuisine can amaze even a connoisseur. Different regions in India offer their own specialties with their very own taste, subtlety and aroma. The exotic tastes, hues and textures of Indian food have ensured a steady growth in popularity in the West. The combination of fresh ingredients and cooking techniques are both a gastronomic delight and fulfill todayÃ?Â's requirements for healthy eating. This great little restaurant is a gem in the rough. Fantastic food. One of my daughters favorite place to go. Come along and have a Mango Lassi or some Sweet Nan. Dinner will be approximately $15 per person for the night. This is a BYOB place so feel free to bring something.
LetÃ?Â's meet at Ixtapa in Lunenburg to discuss Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. WeÃ?Â'll enjoy appetizers and margaritas and also pick our March book selection. Hope to see you there! Below is a description of the book from an Amazon reviewer. Water for Elephants has been lauded as a "great pick for summer", but this book is so much more. It has a depth and a substance to it that you don't usually find in your typical "beach read". It's obvious that the author did her research into the time period (post-Depression America), and the subject matter (traveling circuses). According to the author's note at the end of the book, many of the compelling anecdotes in the story were based upon real events, culled from the diaries and personal histories of old-time circus performers. As a result, Water for Elephants is a novel that boasts the rare combination of being both entertaining and informative. The main character is a cantankerous, still-sharp 93-year-old man, and his frustration at being trapped in an old man's body is palpable. The story of his incredible life and adventures with the Benzini Brothers circus unfolds in a way that is emotionally wrenching, and yet flashes of good humor pervade throughout. The characters are richly drawn, and even the animals are given complex personalities that make them a pivotal part of the story. There is something in the novel for everyone: it is equal parts adventure, mystery, fictional memoir, love story, and historical account. Leominster, Massachusetts is a medium sized community which provides for its businesses and residents a semi rural setting and free, easy access to anywhere in Massachusetts via Route I-90 and Route 495. Its location and work force have attracted primarily plastic companies as well as related tool and die and service industries. Leominster officials hope biotech companies will envision their city as the best place to begin producing the new products of the 21st century, thus insuring their community’s economic future.
Leominster prides itself on its excellent cultural mix and their school system which they feel is the city’s most important service. Residents are especially proud of the mix of small town friendliness and character with the strong industrial and retail base that makes the city a magnet to shoppers from all of the surrounding towns.
